Iron Men Strengthen Church

In August twelve men attended and completed a comprehensive course on "Doing Business God's Way." The church under Pastor Paul Perez's leadership felt this was an opportunity to invite key leaders in the church to raise up businesses and strong Godly men as role models in the community.


After a week of team building, Bible Study, practical application of the scripture to business and spiritual leadership the men celebrated with their wives as they received their certificates. Standards to complete the course were very high and men were required to pass an accounting course taught by a university instructor with a 70% or better. All the men did well and were recognized for their achievement.

Since August many of the men have volunteered in key areas of leadership and are bearing much fruit in their families, church and community. Plans are developing to assist the men with banking relationships, additional training and other means to develop the opportunities for men in the church.

Being Alert to God's Resources

Ladies of Kisumu and Buoye, Kenya are being very creative. By being alert to the resources God put in their path they began a jewelry crafts ministry. Recently a jewelry artisan taught a group of women from both churches how to make a variety of necklaces and bracelets.


The women began using seed pods and other natural materials found around where they live. Upon seeing the first selection of necklaces and bracelets made, a friend from the U.S. took some to a store in Texas. The House of Hope store manager reports, "the jewelry is very popular and we have sold out! We want to order more for delivery in January." The House of Hope store provides an outlet for widows and orphans to sell items in the U.S.


The craft ministry is growing rapidly as the trainers are now offering classes to members of both churches to help the adults and older children start their own jewelry businesses. Praise God for providing the beautiful seeds, pods and other beads required to make the jewelry. Watch for further developments as God blesses the people for their hard work.

AWANA Children's Ministry Growing!

Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6

Thirty leaders were trained by Charles Ndertu, the AWANA Missionary from Nairobi, at Deliverance Church in Kisumu, Kenya. A few weeks ago 50 children were registered and a waiting list started. By the day of the kick off 120 children were on the list. Many thanks to the Bent Tree Bible Fellowship life group in Texas that sponsored the start up fees for the club. You are storing up great treasures in Heaven!


The joy of the leaders, children and parents experiencing AWANA for the first time was a huge blessing. Several of the men from the men's discipleship group, who went are volunteering as leaders. Even the AWANA commander George was a part of the Kingdom builders group of businessmen.


God is so faithful and so far 114 children are sponsored for the club and parents are paying a percentage of the cost while AWANA International subsidizes the rest. We are trusting the Lord for members of the church to partner with their U.S. brothers and sisters to "top up" for the rest of the children. Once again AWANA began a club from America and it became a Kenyan ministry with the church partnering in support. The AWANA missionary said, "this is going to be a big club because the leadership is really committed." God is creating momentum in this church and being the first AWANA club in the city is an exciting development.
